What's new in Svelte: August 1, 2020
Typescript support, a new HMR toolchain, drop-in components and some stunning showcase sites
<style/>tags (useful for including SCSS files) are now handled by the preprocessor (v3.24.0, Example)
import.metais now supported (more info, v3.24.0)
These last two updates come from an update to Svelte’s upstream dependency, acorn. For more info on how acorn is to generate Svelte’s Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), check out Rich Harris’ comment from 2017.
Impactful bug fixes
Inline functions within the template no longer crash when
thisis used (Example, v3.24.0)
I couldn’t mind much in the way of “known to be coming soon” features… so I’ll ask you readers, what would you like to see in(stead of) this section?
svelte-file-dropzone is a file upload tool that lets users drag-and-drop their file into a “drop zone”. A common UI pattern, now available in Svelte!
